Tracking Species using G.I.S. in Costa Rica

During my sophomore year, I traveled to Bahia Ballena-Uvita, Costa Rica and worked on a Geographic Information Systems project for 2 weeks with professor and mentor Amy Work.

My team, led by Amy Work was responsible for creating a trail layout map of a isolated research station in the Costa Rican jungle. This was then used as a basemap for a program we created that allowed for scientists to take and submit pictures of plants or animals of interest. These pictures would then be placed on the map where they were taken. We were the first users to submit data, but it has been used consistently since.
